This book has been going great. This kid amazes me. He has a strong sense of anger and misjudgement. As an example, he ran away from his foster home when his mom had to work, and he went out into the street when he wasnt even 10 yet. Also, before that, when he lived in his home, and his mom went to work, he used to go out in the night, and went to the bar. Adults would go to him and and give him drinks and money to go say dirty things to other people. He really didnt know what it meant until he went to school, and when he told his mom then got mad and didnt believe him when he told them he learned it in school. The book is very descripitive, and the author is amazing. Writing a book with such detail must be hard to do, since he had very little education when he was young. Im glad i choose Black Boy as my independent reading book.

Black Boy Blog 1

The book I choose to read was Black Boy by Richard Wright. I choose it because the title sounds interesting. Im guessing its about poverty and racism in some way. Richard Wright was a born in Mississippi living a life of poverty. The book is an autobiography about his life as a whole. Since the book is around 400 pages, it would take me a month too read it.
